Restaurant Industry Award 2020

The Restaurant Industry Award 2020 covers employers in the restaurant industry throughout Australia and their employees classified in Schedule A. The restaurant industry means restaurants, reception centres, night clubs, cafés and roadhouses, including catering by a restaurant business and a tea room operated with a restaurant business. It does not include a restaurant operated in or in connection with premises of an employer covered by the Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2020, the Registered and Licensed Clubs Award 2020 or the Fast Food Industry Award (clause 4.2). The award also covers on-hire employees and group training apprentices and trainees working in the restaurant industry. It does not cover contract caterers, the retail and fast food industries, in-flight catering, aged care catering, boarding schools and residential colleges, hospitals, orphanages, hotels, motels, hostels and boarding establishments, registered clubs, or restaurants operated in or in connection with hotels, motels, hostels, boarding establishments or registered clubs (clause 4.4). Where an employer is covered by more than one award, an employee is covered by the award with the classification most appropriate to their work and industry (clause 4.5).
