General Retail Industry Award 2020

The General Retail Industry Award 2020 covers, to the exclusion of any other modern award, employers in the general retail industry throughout Australia and their employees in the classifications defined in Schedule A. The general retail industry means the retail sale or hire of goods or services for personal, household or business consumption, including clothing, food, furniture and household goods, personal and recreational goods, bakery shops that mainly bake products for sale on the premises, household equipment repairs, customer information or assistance at retail complexes, and newspaper delivery by newsagents' employees. It excludes retail by community pharmacies, hospital and institutional pharmacies, hair and beauty establishments, stand-alone butcher shops, stand-alone nurseries and most manufacturing or processing establishments, as well as warehousing and distribution, motor vehicle and fuel retailing, restaurants, cafes, hotels, motels and fast food operations, and contractors working at retail establishments. The award also covers on-hire employees and group training apprentices and trainees working in the industry. It does not cover employers covered by the Fast Food Industry Award 2010, the Meat Industry Award 2020, the Hair and Beauty Industry Award 2020 (named in the clause by its former 2010 title) or the Pharmacy Industry Award 2020.
