Clerks—Private Sector Award 2020

The Clerks—Private Sector Award 2020 is an occupational award. It covers private sector employers throughout Australia, and their employees, where the employees are wholly or principally engaged in clerical work. Clerical work includes recording, typing, calculating, invoicing, billing, checking, answering calls, cash handling, reception and administrative duties of a clerical nature. Examples of employees covered include administrative assistants, receptionists, bookkeepers and other office staff. It also covers on-hire employees and group training trainees working in its classifications. The award does not cover employers that are covered by a modern award containing clerical classifications, or by one of the industry awards listed in clause 4.4, for employees covered by those awards. Where an employer is covered by more than one award, a clerical employee is covered by the award with the classification most appropriate to their work and work environment.
